Gallery Cottage has a large, full height living area with dining suite, wicker furniture and kitchen. A small annexe with a dividing curtain, futon sofa and flat screen TV can be used as a second bedroom if required. The kitchen provides a fridge freezer, fitted oven and microwave together with plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware for four people.
Also downstairs are a toilet with a small hand basin and a shower room with a heated towel rail and vanity unit. From the living room, double doors provide lovely views across sheep paddocks to the mountains in the distance.
On the upper storey is a mezzanine floor with a queen-size bed, a Victorian claw-foot, roll-top bath and porcelain wash basin. The bed is dressed with cool cotton sheets and New Zealand made wool duvets suited to the time of year. Towels are provided and there is plenty of hanging space for clothes. Guests are welcome to use a washing machine, iron and ironing board in the laundry room over at the main house and the cottage has its own washing line in the garden. Wireless Internet is available.
Outside is a paved patio, ideal for watching the sun go down, with table and chairs, decking with raised beds for plants. Beyond the patio is a natural grassy area criss-crossed by tree roots. Outside on the gravel drive there is plenty of space for cars, campervans and vehicles with trailers.
A welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread and other essential items will be provided for when guests arrive. If you forget or run out of anything Judith and Jonathan will do their best to help out from their store cupboards – just ask. They are happy to pick you up from Napier airport or from bus depots in Napier or Hastings.
Once here guests are welcome to borrow a couple of bicycles to visit some local wineries and explore the local area at a rather more leisurely pace.
